Terms of Service

Last updated: 18 April 2026

1. Who we are

Kippu is an expense-tracking service operated by Sigitur (“we,” “us,” “our”). These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of Kippu. By creating an account or using Kippu, you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy.

If you don’t agree with these Terms, you can’t use Kippu. That’s the honest version.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 16 years old to use Kippu. If you’re 16 or 17, you need your parent or guardian’s permission before signing up.

When you register, we’ll ask for your date of birth to enforce this. Please answer honestly — if we learn an account belongs to someone under 16, we’ll close it and delete the data.

3. Your account

You’re responsible for keeping your account credentials secure. Don’t share your password. One account is meant for one person; if you need a shared financial setup, family accounts are on our roadmap.

You agree to provide accurate information when you register and to keep it reasonably up to date. If you use “Sign in with Google” or another OAuth provider, you authorize us to receive the basic profile data that sign-in requires — nothing more.

4. Acceptable use

Use Kippu for its intended purpose: tracking your personal finances. Don’t do any of the following:

We reserve the right to suspend accounts engaged in clearly abusive behavior, but we’ll give you a chance to respond before anything permanent, except in cases of serious harm.

5. Subscription and billing

Kippu offers paid plans processed through Stripe. When you subscribe:

You can see your current plan, invoices, and payment method in your account settings.

6. Changing or cancelling your plan

Plan changes take effect immediately. If you upgrade mid-cycle, we’ll prorate the difference; if you downgrade, the new plan begins at your next billing date.

Cancellation is one click in your account settings. We don’t require you to email us, schedule a call, or justify your decision. Your account stays active until the end of the billing period you’ve already paid for, then it goes dormant until it is permanently deleted after the retention period. You keep access to your data.

7. Refunds

If you decide Kippu isn’t for you, you can request a full refund of your most recent charge within seven days of that billing cycle starting. No questions, no forms, no guilt-trip emails.

Request a refund from your billing settings, or reply to any Kippu email. Refunds are issued through Stripe back to your original payment method within a few business days. After the refund, your subscription ends immediately.

Outside the seven-day window we don’t process refunds automatically, but life happens — if you think your situation deserves an exception, email us at hello@kippu.co and we’ll look at it.

8. Your data and content

Your data is yours. Everything you enter into Kippu — transactions, categories, notes, attachments — belongs to you. We hold it on your behalf so we can provide the service.

You grant us only the narrow license needed to operate Kippu: storing, processing, and displaying your data back to you. We don’t analyze your financial activity for advertising, sell it, share it with brokers, or use it to train machine learning models.

9. Data export and account deletion

You can export your data at any time from your account settings, up to once every 24 hours. We provide CSV files, a complete JSON archive, and any attachments you’ve uploaded, bundled in a ZIP file.

You can close your account at any time. When you do:

Full details are in our Privacy Policy.

10. Service changes and availability

We’ll keep working to improve Kippu. Sometimes that means changing features, discontinuing rarely-used ones, or pausing the service for maintenance. We’ll give you reasonable notice by email for changes that materially affect your use of Kippu.

We don’t guarantee 100% uptime. We aim to make Kippu reliable, but occasional outages happen. If we ever need to shut Kippu down entirely, we’ll give you at least 60 days’ notice and make sure you can export your data before it goes.

11. Termination

You can end your relationship with Kippu any time by deleting your account.

We can terminate your account if you materially breach these Terms (for example, using Kippu for fraud, breaking into our systems, or repeatedly abusing the service). Except in urgent cases, we’ll notify you and give you a chance to correct the issue first. You’ll still be able to export your data after termination, during the 30-day grace period.

12. Disclaimer

Kippu is a tool to help you track your finances. It is not financial, tax, legal, or investment advice. Decisions about your money are yours to make.

We provide Kippu “as is.” We do our best to make it accurate and reliable, but we don’t guarantee it will always be error-free, available without interruption, or fit for every purpose. You use Kippu at your own discretion.

13. Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law, Sigitur’s total liability to you for any claim relating to Kippu won’t exceed the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose.

We’re not liable for indirect damages — things like lost profits, business interruption, or loss of data that wasn’t caused by our failure to meet our security obligations.

Some jurisdictions don’t allow these limitations. If you live in one, the limitations above apply only to the extent your local law permits.

14. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. Disputes are resolved in the state or federal courts of Delaware. We don’t require arbitration and we don’t waive your right to participate in class actions where one is legally available.

If you live somewhere with consumer protection laws that override this, those laws still protect you.

15. Changes to these Terms

If we make material changes to these Terms, we’ll email you at least 30 days before the changes take effect. Smaller clarifications or fixes we may make without individual notice, but we’ll always update the “Last updated” date at the top.

If you don’t agree to a change, you can close your account before it takes effect. Continuing to use Kippu after the effective date means you accept the new Terms.
